Apprentice Hunter

How it works

You do the deciding. It does the typing.

It's for apprenticeships and normal jobs, not just apprenticeships. Finance comes first, with every other field too. Applying properly takes ages, mostly because every firm asks the same things. Here's what you do, and what we do.

  1. 1

Fill in your details once and link your CV

Your name, address, date of birth, what you're after and your CV. You can add grades, work history and referees now or later. You won't have to type them into every form again.

  2. 2

See the jobs in one list

Normal jobs at real firms, school-leaver programmes and apprenticeships, side by side. We scan 950 places, including firms' own careers pages, which is where the hidden roles at small firms turn up. Then we sort by closing date and give each one a score out of 100, like 86/100, for how well your CV matches the advert. Today that's 5560 roles, 716 of them in finance.

  3. 3

    Tick the jobs you want

A tick means "I want this one". It writes the letter and the long answers for that job straight away, from your own CV and the firm's own advert. Then, on the firm's form, one press of our browser extension fills in the details you saved.

  4. 4

You check it and send it

Read it, change it, and send it on the firm's own site. Nothing goes without you. Then press "I've sent this", so your list stays true: nothing says sent until you've really sent it.

Questions

Why doesn't it send applications for me?

Because that would be worse for you. Firms dislike applications nobody checked, one careless application can waste your only go at a firm, and many sites block automated sending anyway. You check everything and you press send. We've built it so it can't be any other way.

Is it only for apprenticeships?

No. Despite the name, it's for normal jobs too. Right now 1745 of the 5560 roles open are normal jobs at firms, next to school-leaver programmes, apprenticeships at every level, and internships or work experience. You can filter for just the ones you want.

Is it only for finance?

No. Finance is our main section, and where we check the most firms' own careers pages. We're adding firms in other fields too, alongside GOV.UK, Teaching Vacancies and the job boards. You choose your fields when you sign up, and you can change them later.

Which parts of the UK does it cover?

You can choose any part of the UK. Most of our roles are in England, with a few in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We'll tell you plainly if we have nothing near you yet.

Will it find all the roles out there?

No. We scan 950 places, including firms' own careers pages (502 firms so far). 147 of them block automated reading, and we don't try to get around that. If you have a dream firm, check its own careers page too.

What else can't it do?

It can't get you the job. It has few roles outside England for now. Some application forms can't be filled in automatically, so you may have to finish those by hand. And our details about a job can be out of date, so always check the firm's own advert.

Will the letters make things up?

No. Your CV is the only source about you, and the advert is the only source about the firm. It uses the advert's own words, so screening software can match them, and it avoids the stock phrases that make letters sound like a chatbot. If an advert has too little detail for a truthful letter, we tell you rather than guess. Read each one and change it before you send it.

What does a score like 86/100 mean?

It's a guide to how well your CV matches the advert, with the reasons shown. It's not your chance of getting the job, because nobody can know that. We work it out on our own computers from your CV, the advert and what you said you're looking for, and no AI is involved. A low score never hides a job from you.

What do "Check this firm" and "Location to check" mean?

"Check this firm" means we've only seen this job on general job boards, where anyone can advertise. It may be an agency, or a poor sales role, so look the firm up before giving it your details. "Location to check" means the advert doesn't make it clear where the job is.

What happens at the end of the free trial?

You get 5 free applications, to use within 3 days, and one free trial per email address. When you've used them, or the 3 days are up, your trial ends, and the jobs, scores and letters close until you choose a plan, from £10 a month. A plan gives you everything: all the jobs we list, your scores, letters, long answers and form filling. Your details and any letters already written stay yours. We don't ask for a card to start, so nothing can be charged when your trial ends. If you buy a plan, it renews each month until you cancel.

Can I get my data out, or delete it?

Yes, both from your details page, at any time. Delete means delete, including your CV.

How old do I have to be?

At least 16, the age you can start an apprenticeship. From then on you can sign up and buy for yourself.
